The countdown to the start of the 2024 season will include a look at all nine Big South-OVC Football Association teams with content from the recent Football Media Day event.

Southeast Missouri is the first Big South-OVC team to report, as the Redhawks will compete in the FCS Kickoff on Saturday, August 24 as part of Week Zero. SEMO was picked third in this year's Preseason Poll, receiving two fo the nine first-place votes.

The Redhawks are looking to rebound from a 4-7 overall record last season. The team has several high profile players returning including Preseason OVC Defensive Player of the Year Bryce Norman. Norman earned First-Team Big South-OVC honors for the second-straight season in 2023. He started 10 games and led the Redhawks with 87 tackles, 44 solo stops, 9.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. Norman ranked third in the Big South-OVC in tackles and 10th in sacks. Additionally, the linebacker recorded double-digit tackles in five of his 10 starts.

The team also has starting quarterback Paxton DeLaurent back for his third season with the team.  He started the first seven games of 2023 before a shoulder injury ended his season. DeLaurent completed 149-of-247 passes for 1,792 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ran for 75 yards and another four scores on 62 carries.  DeLaurent is protected by Zach Gieg, who is in his fourth year as the team's starting center. The All-American has been ranked among the top offensive linemen in the FCS.
