Tennessee State Named Stats Perform HBCU National Team of the Week

Stats Perform Release

Tennessee State has been named the HBCU FCS National Team of the Week by Stats Perform following its 24-7 victory over Howard on Saturday.

Byron McNair passed for three touchdowns and the defense allowed just 189 yards in the Tigers’ Homecoming Day win. Linebacker Micah Gay totaled 11 tackles and two interceptions (on his way to being named OVC-Big South Co-Defensive Player of the Week), and coach Reggie Barlow’s OVC-Big South squad ended a five-game losing streak to improve to 2-5.

Tennessee State will look to continue that momentum this weekend when they host Western Illinois.
